Nepal Begins World Cup Qualifier 2023 against Zimbabwe

The Nepal national cricket team is set to play against the hosts Zimbabwe in the opening match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier on June 18th in Harare. The official schedule, released by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday, confirms this.

Nepal Begins World Cup Qualifier 2023 against Zimbabwe

In Group A, Nepal will compete alongside the hosts Zimbabwe, West Indies, the United States, and the Netherlands. Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.


Following their match against Zimbabwe, Rohit Paudel's team will face the United States on June 20th and West Indies on June 22nd. Their last group stage match will be against the Netherlands on June 24th.

The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, where they will play three more matches against teams from the other group who have qualified. The finalists from this stage will progress to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be held in India at the end of this year.

In Group B, Sri Lanka will kick off their campaign by facing the United Arab Emirates on June 19th in Bulawayo.

Ireland, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe currently occupy the bottom five positions in the Cricket World Cup Super League.

Scotland, Oman, and Nepal have qualified as the top three teams from the Cricket World Cup League 2, while the United Arab Emirates and the United States progressed as the top two teams from the World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

Additionally, Nepal has two warm-up matches scheduled against the United Arab Emirates and Oman on June 13th and June 15th, respectively.
