The 82-year-old patient was taken to the hospital last month after fighting colon cancer for more than a year.

Pele's daughter Kely Nascimento, who has been updating the public on her father's condition while he has been in the hospital, posted a touching picture of the two hugging on Friday.
The caption for the Instagram photo that was shared stated: "We continue to be here, in fight and in faith. One more night together."

Pele will remain at the hospital for the christmas period, she had earlier announced, adding: "We determined with doctors that, for many reasons, it will be best for us to stay here, with all the care that our new family at Einstein gives us.
